You know, I’m probably one of the lucky ones. And they all thought I was quite stupid, dull, clueless, befuddled when it comes to all these new gizmos and gadgets that keeping on being pushed out to the mass markets year in and year out. I remember stopping by for church one fine, frosty Christmas morning and there was this large family gathering huddled together for a group photo as the people proceeded to clamber down the cathedral’s steps and congregate and wish each other well for the season.
This rather large lady, brightly dressed with fine hat and red high heels, politely asks me if I wouldn’t mind. Normally, I wouldn’t have, I like the thought of helping out when given half the chance to do so, but in this case, I had to shudder and wither away. But this old gal was having none of it. For a moment I enjoyed her spunk. She wasn’t giving up and proceeded to give me instructions on how to tap the photo on her smart mobile. And at that moment, the sun came out and the tone was all out of proportion.
Not that I could see any of it, but so she told me. And she insisted that I try again. But finally, thankfully, even she gave up. Like an irate follower on my Instagram platform, she huffed and puffed and turned her hefty back on me. No, the point I want to make today is this, and this is why I tell you that I’m quite lucky. Let me just tell you that I get plenty likes for Instagram photos thank you very much. But so you pick this up. How is this even possible. Didn’t this guy just finish telling us that he was as dumb as a doorknob.
Didn’t he even just give us all a demo of his incompetence and backwardness? Well, yeah, I did, but I was doing so to emphasize the importance of physical, practical and even theoretical training. And now I get to the part I like to call my coup de grace. You see, while all these smart alecks are snapping off photos like it’s going out of fashion, I’m slowly and surely picking my way through mine. And then sitting back moments later, enjoying watching how all the likes start ticking in. The thing is, don’t always assume that you’re smart and savvy and you already know everything there is to know about mobiles and platforms.
Be like me. Slow, meticulous, careful, always giving attention to the detail. And if I can learn how, then so can you. Heck, there’s even a school you can go to to learn how. It’s like special class for the slow kids (yup, I was one of those too). It’s the Instagram school of photography, and let me just tell you, the lessons are real easy. The way they show you how. I get it right from the get go. And then I get my likes together.
